About VPATify
What is VPATify?
VPATify is a web accessibility scanning and VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) generation platform. It runs a six-method engine — automated DOM analysis, Vision AI, keyboard simulation, screen-reader simulation, cognitive analysis, and manual-review flagging — against any website and produces procurement-ready VPAT 2.5, Section 508, and WCAG 2.2 conformance reports.
How does VPATify differ from axe DevTools, WAVE, or Lighthouse?
Those tools run a single engine (mostly axe-core DOM rules) and can evaluate about 30–40% of WCAG success criteria. VPATify combines six independent analysis methods — DOM analysis, vision AI, keyboard simulation, screen reader testing, cognitive analysis, and manual-review flagging — to evaluate over 80% of WCAG 2.2 success criteria. Note: "criteria coverage" means how many criteria the tool can check, not that every issue is caught automatically. It also generates official VPAT 2.5 documentation — the other tools do not.
Is VPATify a replacement for a human accessibility audit?
No. Automated scanning — even VPATify's six-method engine — cannot evaluate cognitive load, meaningful reading sequence, complex interaction patterns, or alt-text appropriateness. For those criteria, VPATify flags the item for human review and our marketplace connects you with certified CPACC and WAS professionals who can complete the last mile.
Scanning
How long does a scan take?
A quick single-page scan completes in under 30 seconds. A deep scan that crawls your entire site (up to 500 pages) finishes in 5–20 minutes depending on size, JavaScript rendering requirements, and Vision AI analysis.
Can I scan a site that requires login?
Public pages only on the Free and Starter plans. Professional and Enterprise plans support authenticated scans via session-cookie upload or headless-browser credential injection. Contact office@vpatify.com if you need authenticated multi-step flow scanning.
What WCAG version does VPATify test against?
Quick scans target WCAG 2.2 Level AA by default. Deep scans support WCAG 2.2 A, AA, and AAA — you choose the conformance level in the scan config. All criteria map back to Section 508 (Revised) and EN 301 549 for European compliance.
Does VPATify respect robots.txt?
Yes. The crawler respects robots.txt for the domain it is scanning and rate-limits requests to 1 request per second by default. If you are scanning your own property and want to exceed that, set an Allow-List header on the scan config.
VPAT generation
What is a VPAT?
A Voluntary Product Accessibility Template is a standardized document that describes how a product meets the accessibility requirements of WCAG, Section 508, and EN 301 549. Buyers — especially US federal agencies, state government procurement teams, and universities — require a VPAT before they can purchase software. VPATify generates VPAT 2.5 (the current revision) in Word and PDF format.
Is a VPATify-generated VPAT legally valid?
A VPAT is a self-disclosure document — it has the same legal standing whether it is generated manually by a consultant or automatically by VPATify. What matters is that the statements in it are accurate. VPATify pre-fills statements from scan results, you review and edit them, and the final document is signed by your organization. Government procurement teams accept VPATs generated through automation as long as the underlying assessment is genuine.
What is an ACR?
Accessibility Conformance Report. An ACR is the formal, published version of a VPAT that your organization shares publicly or attaches to an RFP response. VPATify lets you publish an ACR at a public URL (for example vpatify.com/acr/your-product) or download it as a Word or PDF file.
Pricing & plans
Is VPATify free?
The single-page quick scanner is free forever with no account required. Signed-up users are on the Free plan by default and get one full-site Deep Scan included so they can try VPAT generation and the multi-page crawl. Ongoing Deep Scans, team seats, and multi-site dashboards require a paid plan starting at $29/month (Starter).
Can I try Deep Scan before paying?
Yes. Sign up for the Free plan and you get one full-site Deep Scan on the house — real crawl, real VPAT, real report. After that first scan, upgrade to Starter (500 pages/scan) or Professional (2,000 pages/scan) for ongoing Deep Scans, scheduled audits, and team collaboration.
Do you offer non-profit or educational discounts?
Yes. Registered non-profits, public libraries, and accredited educational institutions receive a 40% discount on all paid plans. Email office@vpatify.com with your tax-exemption letter or accreditation documentation to apply the discount to your account.
Marketplace
How are marketplace specialists vetted?
We verify that every specialist holds at least one of IAAP CPACC, IAAP WAS, IAAP CPWA, or DHS Trusted Tester certification. Profiles include year-credentialled, specialism areas, case studies, and client reviews. We do not accept specialists whose certifications have lapsed.
How does pricing work in the marketplace?
Specialists set their own hourly rates and fixed-fee package pricing. VPATify charges a flat 10% marketplace fee on completed engagements, applied to the specialist's quote — there is no additional cost for the buyer. Payment is held in escrow until the deliverable is accepted.
Can I hire a specialist for a one-time VPAT review?
Yes. Post a project, set a budget, and accept a proposal. Most VPAT reviews complete in 1–3 weeks with a fixed-fee package. Your scan results transfer into the engagement automatically so the specialist has context from day one.
Privacy & data
Where is scan data stored?
Scan results are stored in Neon Postgres (US-East region). Screenshots and artifacts are held in Cloudflare R2 for 30 days, then archived to cold storage for 1 year before deletion. VPAT documents are retained for the life of your account. You can delete any scan or document at any time from your dashboard.
Is VPATify GDPR-compliant?
Yes. VPATify acts as a data processor for the scan data you submit and a data controller for your own account data. We publish a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) on request for Professional and Enterprise customers. Email office@vpatify.com to request a DPA.
Do you train AI models on my scan data?
No. Scan data, screenshots, and VPAT content are never used to train our models or any third-party model. Vision AI analysis is performed in-request only — no data is retained by the model provider beyond the inference call.
